Establishing information clearinghouse

We are interested in establishing an information clearinghouse on
disaster preparedness/response and preservation issues at Michigan State
University Archives and Historical Collections, which would serve
archives, libraries, historical societies, museums, and businesses
primarily in the state of Michigan. Although we have been doing this all
along on a minor scale, we would like to develop a program which would
serve a wider audience. Has anyone out there started a similar venture,
and what was your experience? I am interested in knowing about costs,
problems encountered, successes, etc. I would also be grateful for the
names of any national services of this kind, including electronic mail
services in preservation.
