AMIGOS Preservation Workshop Scheduled for November

A full-day workshop, "Electronic Options for Preservation and Access:
Regional and National Initiatives" is scheduled for November 9, 9:00
a.m.-5:00 p.m., in Dallas, in conjunction with the AMIGOS Fall 1993
Conference.

The AMIGOS Preservation Service invites you to attend the workshop to
learn about new technologies for preservation and access. This session
features numerous presenters and vendors who will bring to you the most
up-to-date information via case studies and viewpoints.

Featured speaker Anne Kenney is Associate Director of the Department of
Preservation and Conservation at Cornell University. She was Co-Project
Director for the groundbreaking Xerox/Cornell Joint Study on Digital
Preservation, and is now directing the project, "Preserving Archival
Material Through Digital Technology." Ms. Kenney is Immediate Past
President of the Society of American Archivists.

Featured speaker Tom Hickerson is Director of the Division of Rare and
Manuscript Collections at Cornell University Library. He is Co-Director
of the Cornell Project for the Kodak Library Image Consortium. He
received a 1993 Research Fellowship from the Bentley Historical Library,
University of Michigan, funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, for
"Digital Access to Research Collections on College and University
Campuses."

Additional presenters include Nancy Boothe, Director, Woodson Research
Center (Special Collections), Rice University, a 1993 AMIGOS Fellowship
recipient; John Stokes, President, Stokes Imaging, who has completed
projects for the Library of Congress, National Library of Medicine,
National Geographic, and Research Libraries Group; and James Parke,
President, Southwest Micropublishing, microfilming and digitization
specialist.
