Freezing

Due to mold growth, a group of 18th/19th century prints from our
collection have been placed in a deep freeze unit until they can be
treated by a conservator. I have absolutely no experience with this
process and would like to become better informed. What should be
considered when deciding that materials be placed in these conditions?
How long should they stay in this environment? Are there any adverse
effects to placing materials in extreme cold?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
