Date due slips

Our library uses colored acidic date due slips attached with PVA and/or
scotch tape.  Is there any reason for *not* using acid-free slips?
Which method(s) of attachment are least harmful to the endsheets and
take the least amount of time, supplies, training and space?  Does
anyone use glue sticks?
