Gingko leaves and bookworms

I recently talked to a traveler who reported being told in Japan that
leaves of the gingko tree are a specific against bookworms. I wonder if
anyone has heard of this home remedy and can speak to its efficacy.  (I
forgot to ask my informant whether the leaves ought to be dead or
alive.)
