administrators and micropublishers:

American Library Association
Annual Conference 1993
New Orleans, Louisiana

Monday, June 28, 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.
Holiday Inn Superdome, Trio Room

"Preservation and Micropublishers: New Models for a Profitable
                              Partnership"

A program sponsored by the ALCTS RLMS Micropublishing Committee

Speakers:

    Timothy Fusco, Vice President, UMI
Jacqueline Goggin, Curatorial Associate, Harvard University
    August Imholtz, Executive Editor, CIS
    Lee Jones, President, MAPS

The speakers will address issues related to the debate over the
participation of commercial micropublishers in the national preservation
effort. The speakers bring a variety of perspectives on the potential
for cooperation between libraries and micropublishers, and they will
discuss their views of the possibilities and problems that exist if this
type of partnership is pursued. Some of the specific issues to be
focussed on include quality control, ownership and availability of
master negatives, and royalties and contracts.
