Marking

With regard to Jan Paris' inquiry about marking call numbers on very
dark or glossy papers -- yes, there's a solution, but you probably won't
like it. What we do here is write the call number on a self-adhesive
label, one which is made with a fairly innocuous adhesive. This is
applied to the title page at the appropriate place. Check your
University Products or Gaylord's catalog.

No, I'm not entirely happy with this arrangement, but I tell myself that
these books are, after all, going into the general collections adorned
with book pockets, security strips, date due slips, etc. Under the
circumstances, one more sticky label doesn't seem like much to flinch
about. (Obviously, this doesn't apply to special collections
materials!)
