The University of Texas Preservation and Conservation Studies for
Libraries and Archives of the Graduate School of Library and Information
Science is pleased to announce that Roberta Pilette will become the Book
Conservation Laboratory Instructor in Fall 1993.

Ms. Pilette is a graduate of the Conservation Education Programs,
Columbia University, where she acquired her Master of Library Science
degree along with an Advanced Certificate in Library and Archival
Conservation in 1984. She has extensive treatment skills and
experience, and has taught a wide range of binding related skills. Ms.
Pilette has worked in outstanding institutions such as the New-York
Historical Society, Columbia University, New York City Municipal
Archives, and the Library of Congress. Through these very different
institutional settings she has identified the common ground of the
collections conservation approach within large and small, circulating,
and special collections; as well as performed expert single item
treatments. The knowledge and experience she brings to the Preservation
and Conservation Studies will be a tremendous asset to the programs and
its students.
