The Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) and
the Preservation of Library Materials Section (PLMS) would like to
announce:

"TAKING CHARGE: MANAGING PRESERVATION PROJECTS"

A Program sponsored by ALCTS/PLMS
to be presented at the ALA 1993 Annual Conference
in New Orleans, Louisiana
on Monday, June 28, 1993
from 2pm to 5:30pm

TAKING CHARGE is a program for those individuals or institutions with
little or no project experience who are interested in organizing and
implementing a preservation project. The program is concerned with the
broad administrative concerns of implementing a project, rather than
technical aspects of preservation. Speakers will address such topics as
planning and cost modeling, documentation and accountability, and coping
with the impact projects may have on staff and existing preservation
programs. In addition, case studies will be presented on projects as
carried out at several different institutions.

Question and answer opportunities will be provided during the program.
Handouts, including a bibliography of literature available on the topics
of project management and preservation projects, will be distributed.
