ALA Preconference

"Electronic Technologies: New Options for Preservation" will be held as a
preconference to ALA on Thursday, June 14, 1993.  The preconference will
explore current applications of electronic reformatting technologies to
library materials, to preserve their informational content and make such
materials more accessible.  The centerpiece of the day will be a series
of presentations about current efforts to reformat materials ranging
from music scores to text, architectural drawings to photographs.  The
program will also feature presentations on selection and collection
management issues, technological options and limitations, standards,
intellectual control, and copyright.  The program is:

    Case Studies of selected projects, including breakout sessions:

The preconference will begin at 8:30 a.m. and last until 5 p.m.
