Disaster planning

We are in the process of developing a disaster-recovery plan and are
left with the following questions:

What is the best way to wrap up thoroughly wet books for freezing purposes:

    in boxes (what kind?)

    in crates (plastic, wood?)

    in plastic bags (what kind of plastic?)

    wrapped in plastic and in crates?

    what is the best method for removing soot from books?
