Digital scanning

Is anyone or does anyone know of any libraries who are making use of
digital scanning equipment for any purposes, but especially preservation
purposes? Any information would be appreciated, no matter how small.

Georgetown Law Library would like to use this technology to preserve
some brittle materials.  It would be very helpful if we could discuss
this process with someone who has investigated this technology or is
thinking of embarking on a project.  Please respond in the manner most
convenient for you.
