Glass plate negatives

At the Music Division of the New York Public Library we have retained
200 glass plate negatives from over 1,000.  We have not found the
physical negatives to be as important as their content (to our patrons)
and therefore have made service copies available instead.  Those we have
chosen to retain are stored in individual side-seamed acid-free
envelopes, in upright Hollinger boxes. We check them once a year for
signs of deterioration or mold.

These negatives are keyed to the service copies and are available only
to qualified researchers.
