Perfume damage to paper

Re:  Perfume sample sheets bound in magazines--are they harmful to
paper:  A patron asked whether these "scratch-&-sniff" inserts could
harm his personal magazine collection (you can imagine the title). I
have never seen any information on this topic (I'm new to this bulletin
board).  Does anyone know anything about it? Libraries which keep back
issues in print form may be interested.
