Directions to Nov. BAPNet meeting

Here are the directions to the November meeting site.   Again the meeting
is on Thursday, Nov. 7, 10:00 a.m. to Noon, at the Presidio:

The Golden Gate National Recreation Area Park Archives/Army Records
Center is located in Building 667 on the Presidio of San Francisco.

Directions to the facility are:

>From Marin:
South on Golden Gate Bridge; get into far right lane before toll plaza;
take immediate right turn after leaving toll booth, turn right again and
go down slope, turn right and go under toll plaza into parking lot for
scenic overlook.  Turn right again at intersection in parking lot. At
stop sign turn left onto Lincoln Boulevard (row of white houses on
opposite side of street as landmark).  Follow road down hill and around
curves.  Go under the Doyle Drive (bridge approach) elevated roadway.

On left side of street are two trees with trunks painted white.  Turn
left between trees onto Cowles Street and go down hill.  At stop sign
you are looking directly across into our parking lot. Proceed straight
across and park inside the chain link fence.  Enter at glass door with
wooden porch.

>From Peninsula and Points South:
Highway 280 to 19th Avenue in the City.  19th Avenue turns into Park
Presidio at Golden Gate Park, proceed on through MacArthur Tunnel and
follow signs to Golden Gate Bridge, except stay in far right lane.  Turn
off to the right just before the toll plaza into the scenic overlook
area.  At stop sign turn right, at next stop sign turn left onto Lincoln
Boulevard.  Follow Lincoln and go under Doyle Drive (bridge approach)
elevated roadway.  On left side of street are two trees with trunks
painted white.  Turn left between trees onto Cowles Street and go down
hill. At stop sign you are looking directly across intou our parking
lot. Proceed straight across and park inside the chain link fence. Enter
at glass door with wooden porch.

>From San Francisco and Points East (East Bay, etc.):
Cross Bay Bridge and take Embarcadero Exit from far left lane of bridge.
Follow ramp and turn right onto Harrison Street, go to bottom of hill.
Turn left onto Embarcadero and follow it to Bay Street (just across from
Pier 33).  Turn left and take Bay Street all the way past Fort Mason,
turn right just past Fort Mason (upper) onto Laguna, then follow street
around Safeway store to end up on Marina Boulevard.  Follow Marina
Blvd. all the way to the Presidio, stay in the right lane which goes into the
Presidio (other lanes go onto Doyle Drive for Golden Gate Bridge
approach). Inside the Presidio at stop sign turn left onto Halleck
Street.  Turn right on Lincoln Boulevard.  Go through 4-way stop and
proceed on, veering to the right to go around the brick building in
front of you.  Continue on that street past the National Cemetery.  Turn
right on McDowell Avenue past the cemetery.  About half way down the 
hill, turn right into parking lot on bay side of two old brick
buildings.  Park inside fence and enter by glass door/wooden porch.

Alternate San Francisco directions:
Take Central Freeway (101) into San Francisco, take Mission/DuBoce
Exit.  Turn right off ramp and get into left lane. Go about three blocks to
intersection of Van Ness and Mission.  Turn left onto Van Ness and
follow signs for 101 North/Golden Gate Bridge.  Turn left on Lombard
Street and follow as long as it stays straight. Get into left lane by
Divisdero St.  At Broderick Street, pull into new left lane which is
turn lane onto continuation of Lombard Street (main street now becomes
Richardson).  Go two blocks  on side street and enter Presidio at 
Lombard Street Gate.  At Y intersection, go right.  Go through the next
two stop sign intersections, then veer right to go around brick building
in path of street.  Continue on that street, Lincoln Boulevard, past
National Cemetery and turn right on McDowell Avenue.  About half way
down hill, turn right into parking area on bay side (north) of two old
brick buildings.  Park inside fence and enter by glass door/wooden
porch.
