Richard,
that's an interesting observation, about the brand of leader tape. We have
seen, so far, that the only type of leader tape that gets sticky, is from
3M. We had some Scotch tape with Agfa leaders spliced in, and there was no
problem with them; only the magnetic tape was sticky.
Baking for longer time or at higher temps doesn't seem to do the trick
either - the magnetic tape doesn't stick, but the leader still does. Since
we have many tapes with leader tape between tunes, it's not so easy to
replace the leaders. Peter Brother's recipe of interleaving with another
stick-free tape seems to be the best solution right now, even though it
means unwinding very slowly, or manually. Just like when removing ordinary
sticky tape, the angle of unwinding seems to affect how hard the tape
sticks.
