[AV Media Matters] sony pcmf-1

can anyone out there devise a software emulation for the sony pcm f1.

for those not familiar, the f1 and its sisters were early digital
encoders, which allowed 16 bit stereo audio to be recorded on video tape
(VHS, Umatic, Beta or whatever).

there are thousands of tapes in this format of digital audio. PCM F1s
are still around; but it would be worth it if these video tapes could be
played directly into a computer (through a video capture card?) and
decoded digital audio (.wav etc.)Direct conversion to other formats
(like CDrs) is one gain. And the fact that any PC could be used to
decode these tapes is another.
