[AV Media Matters] Digital Asset Management demo

Any & all AMIA conference attendees!

I didn't make it to Montreal this year but up until the last minute was
looking forward to it, especially to the Digital Asset Management
Software demo.  Can you share your notes or comments with me on the
available technologies shown? The ball is rolling abit faster here -
we're looking at our work & tape flow, we are acquiring more footage on
DV and thinking more in terms of a tapeless(at least in the short term)
environment for production.

One thing I was thinking about: Currently we receive the moving images
and the data about the images completely separately, though various
channels, computer ports, scanning or physically typed in.  Which vendor
most sucessfully meshes the moving image (or audio actuality) with the
variously obtained/formatted data about the item?  What is the state of
metadata these days?

One other thing: when we acquire images on mini DV tapes, or possibly
some other low-end format, what would you migrate that to for
longer-term intentions?
