maybe you want to have a look at the Dublin Core-based Dismarc profile
(http://www.aitbiz.com/dismarc/ftpdata/manual/dmManual.r1v63.htm).
While not a complete solution, i find it aims for a useful compromise
between complexity and precision. And compliant with the OAI world.
