I use distilled water with a few drops of Kodak Photo-Flo 200,
which causes the water to coat the surface instead of beading.
I believe this is the safest procedure.

I recall Malcolm Chisolm telling me that a certain type of
dry cleaning fluid worked well for wet playback. I forget if
it was Trichloroethane or Carbon Tetrachloride, but he also
told me that the stuff was extremely toxic and had been
banned for home use. I do not recommend trying it.
