I had a Viking 88 too. I modified it with a synchronous motor and muffin
fan, plus 1/2 and 1/4 track stereo heads.  Put in Telefunken versions of the
12AX7A.

It worked well for field recording with a couple of C-12As - in the 1970s.

I still have the Viking 87 transport.
