Re: [ARSCLIST] mysteries

is there any one source
for the Standards or any way to trace their lineage?

We have reissued the majority of the Standard Treasury/Basic Library recordings. Without giving away all our secrets, I can tell you that they were both sourced from the Concert Hall catalog--without the knowledge or consent of Concert Hall! CH had licensed their catalog to Collier's as their arm in the USA, but Collier's apparently sub- licensed the recordings to Funk & Wagnalls for their Standard Treasury/Basic Library projects. Ironic that when the notes told buyers that they could not reveal the names of the performers because they recorded for name brand labels, they were telling the truth. Collier's did not have Concert Hall's permission to sub-license their catalog, and in fact Concert Hall never knew it happened--the founder of Concert Hall only learned about it after our releases made the information public.

There are a number of labels I would like to know more about, like the "Synthetic Plastics" labels of Parade,Promenade, and Diplomat,Family Records, and Acorn,Also there is so little known about Eli Oberstein's later labels, like Rondo(lette),and the sources of these recordings.I am aware ReDiscoveries has put a lot of these out,in some incredible restorations, but how detailed are the liner notes of these CDs,in explaining the soources of the original recordings, and identities of the performers ?

With the exception of one item (a Rossini Overture) we have identified the sources and true identities of the performers in all the "mysteries" releases, and that information is detailed in the notes. Aside from the anonymous supermarket series, we have also reissued items from Acorn, Rondo, Crown, Design, Diplomat, Pirouette, and many other dubious sources. If you want a trip down memory lane, we have a gallery up of covers from some of the pseudonymous LPs we have remastered:
