[ARSCLIST] Obsolete playback equipment (slightly o/t)

This is a belated followup to a recent thread about obscure recording formats--and my apologies for cross-posting, as well as the slightly off-topic nature of this post. IMAP (Independent Media Arts Preservation) is currently undertaking a survey about obsolete video equipment. We're hoping to learn more about the institutions that have and use this equipment and those who need access to it.

If anyone on this list falls into one of those categories, we encourage you to take the survey, which can be found via our website: www.imappreserve.org.

Additionally, we would like to know if there is a need for more information about obsolete, rare, or obscure audio playback equipment. Would there be interest in an online registry of sites holding this equipment, or a consortium of buyers for parts, etc.? Please feel free to send along any thoughts to me off-list, as IMAP considers audio presevation an important part of our mission. If you're interested in seeing the questions being asked in the video survey, without having to actually fill it out, I'll be happy to send a .pdf if you like.

Thanks very much,

Jeff Martin
