SOUND 80 (Minneapolis, MN) has released the first two albums recorded digitally using 3M Company's new Digital Mastering System. The albums are by the St. Paul Chamber Music Orchestra and the jazz group Flim and the BB's. The studio used the digital prototype experimentally as backup during direct-to-disk recording sessions. The prototype-produced digital tapes from these sessions were judged superior to the direct-to-disk masters and the digital albums resulted.
