These are records I flipped past numerous times at flea markets/thrift stores,but never bothered to take a look at.So I have no clue as to what is on them.Much of my memory is gone,but I think I recall seeing these at Lps A&P stores in the 70s,or was it Furr's/Bag & Save,back in the early 80s ? Anyways,it seems to me that these recordings were probably made for other labels,who the recordings would have reverted back to.Or if they were done originally for Reader's Digest, Chesky.I think I recall one that reissued stuff from the Soria HvK/VPO recordngs. These may well have reverted back to Decca/Universal.

That's rather depressing -- that a recording that had so much widespread exposure from a 99-cent LP back in the day is completely missing on CD, not to mention the other 60-odd performances in the same series.

possible repetition.
I've been looking for years for any CD issue of "The Great Composers" series, some of which were
regurgitated on RCA/Funk and Wagnalls (in fake stereo! yeechh) as a supermarket series. The loss
leader, Volume 1, was Beethoven Sym. # 6 by Sir Charles Groves & Royal Philharmonic. It's a
performance I've listened to since I was a kid, and have always wanted a clean copy of it. In mono.
I believe the series was licensed from a company called Fabbri. There is a copy on Ebay:
