Re: [ARSCLIST] George Szell on Music Appreciation Records

Unless the work takes two sides, MAR LPs have a maroon label for the performance side and a blue label for the analysis side. And they do seem to turn up a lot in plain paper sleeves or plastic ones for storing in an album (I've turned up a few filled albums of these discs as well).

I know I have the Bach, and I may have the Schumann as well.I'm not sure.I have seen a beat up copy a few months back at the flea market. The latter I have seen,on both blue and maroon labels. The Bach has another conductor/orchestra on the other side. These were not issued in fancier covers, but merely in stock paper sleeves, with musical instruments on them, like they were meant to go in a binder of some sort. That is,if there was not more than one issue of these recordings. As for catalog numbers,I would have to dig through boxes, and look at the records. But yes, these titles were released.

BACH: SUITE #3 (MAR 26) SCHUMANN: SYMPHONY #4 (MAR 579)
