accomadate a half-hour show.

2) "Transcriptions" first appeared as 12" 78's, which required complicated
engineering to be broadcast as a 15 or 30-minue program. Apparently, Columbia
first introduced the 33-1/3 speed...which allowed a two-sided disc to carry
the soundtrack for a movie short or cartoon.

3) c.1931-2 well into the sixties, if not later.

4) Before...12" 78rpm records. After...various forms of magnetic tape, which
were mailed to stations who wished to broadcast the show in question.
