As well, Edison experimented with the block-long recording horn
(apparently unaware that the vital dimensions were those of the
MOUTH of the horn, as wll as the taper...which enabled Victor
to offer the logarithmically-designed "Orthophonic" horn...)
He was aware that existing recording technology was proving itself
lacking...but, sadly, wasn't sure where to go next...
