Hello,

There is a BE Series 3000 Cart player with mechanical or circuit problems, and I was wondering if anyone had information regarding the repair process, where to get parts, etc..

I believe the FET is at fault, but cannot be certain. Being that the we do not support Cart equipment, I will need to go externally in order to fix the problem or even consult with an experienced person.

Hello, Raphael,

I would like to know why you need to keep this machine running? If it is for archiving cartridges, I have come to the conclusion that it is far better to play the tape on a reel machine. Cartridges (like cassettes) suffer from bad azimuth. I use a general purpose reel machine for playing cartridges. Yes, I have made up special head assemblies for 3-track NAB, PR&E TOMCAT, and 8-track cartridges. The same heads that work for two track NAB stereo and 4-track reel work on NAB mono carts and 4-track carts (Muntz and RCA giant-sized cassettes) respectively.

Unless you are demonstrating how it used to be done in the olde days, I don't think it's productive to maintain cart machines and you'll get better transfers of reel machines where the tape guidance is better.

Just my $0.02 in alternate perspective.

Cheers,

Richard
