Exciting opportunity to help build a new and dynamic program in digital
collections and research at the largest university library system in the
Washington DC-Baltimore area. The UM Libraries serve the College Park

RESPONSIBILITIES: The* *Digital Collections Librarian will support and
manage projects coordinated by the office of Digital Collections and
Research. (See http://www.lib.umd.edu/dcr/collections.html) Working in a
team-based environment and sharing or dividing duties as assignments and
skills indicate with a second Digital Collections Librarian, the
incumbent will research, evaluate, test and recommend various
methodologies, standards, and software used in the creation of digital
collections and their long-term preservation; contribute to best
practice documentation; provide expertise to others in the library and
in the university in the creation of digital collections; and
participate in grant writing and training initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: * *ALA-accredited master’s degree in
library or information science or a master's degree in a relevant
disciplinary area. Minimum two years of relevant experience in a digital
library or digital humanities center or initiative. Demonstrated
experience bringing digital projects to completion. Supervisory
experience desirable. Ability to work collaboratively and to set and
manage priorities in a team environment. Strong interpersonal and
communication skills. Interest and ability to meet promotion and
permanent status requirements as a member of the library faculty of the
UM Libraries.
