Not at all. I hope I wasn't being too bellicose myself! Different strokes for differtent folks. For
instance, I'm sure others will disagree with this -- I like the late-era Tascam machines. I have a
44, last generation, and it's built like a tank and doesn't sound too bad for quarter-track either.
Gentle enough on tape, too, and nice steady motion and reliability with those narrow tracks.
My front-line machines are the Ampex AG-440B and the Technics 1500 series. The Ampex is not super
gentle with tape but it sounds great, in my opinion (some disagree). The Technics is very gentle
with tape and sounds pretty darn good. As the business grows, hopefully one day it will throw off
enough cash I can get what I really want which is a restored Ampex ATR-100 from ATR Services.

I know people who own MX-5050s (I don't) and seem to be happy with them.
