Back before satellites, the NPR tape duplication center had a "wall 
of horrors" of tapes that had come back from stations. It included at 
least one piece of tape that had been spliced with a Band-Aid (!). To 
make matters worse, it wasn't just a normal splice -- the thing had 
been wrapped all the way around the tape several times.
