Re: [ARSCLIST] NARAS Journal

Not that it needs further confirmation from me, but the Vol. 8 no. 2 issue is the last one that I have in my possession.

I always thought that this was a worthy and well put together publication and was sorry that NARAS chose not to continue to support it. Other than the privilege of being able to buy reduced price new releases every month, it is probably the only feature of NARAS membership that I truly have enjoyed (participating in the Grammy Award © voting is fairly meaningless for me, given my off-kilter tastes and their newsletters are about what you'd expect - photos taken at various events and routine profiles of industry artists).

Louise, is there any official word on why the organization decided to pull the plug on it's Journal? Lack of interest? Lack of contributions? Change in organizational policy? None of the above?

Regards,

Peter Hirsch

Hi Jerry & all --

I can confirm. The last issue of the NARAS Journal was Vol. 8, no. 2
(Winter 1998-99).

The NARAS Journal ceased publication with the 1998-99 issue. Can members

of the list confirm this?

The ARSC web page, http://www.arsc-audio.org/ETresources.html, states:
"Grammy Foundation .... Publishes a semi-annual journal, NARAS Journal and Grammy magazine."
Also the link at the bottom of this listing is no longer active.
