Re: [ARSCLIST] CBS radio program "String Serenade" (1952, not 1953)

This has turned out to be from a broadcast of the CBS
radio series "String serenade", Dec. 21, 1952 (LCCN
2006656366). It includes a premiere of the Alan
Hovaness Christmas ode for soprano, celesta and
strings "As on the night", the second part of his
Triptych, op. 100. There actually was more on the
tape which helped someone to date it. The next night
was a reading of Les Miserables by Victor Hugo with
Ronald Colman and Deborah Paget. An ARSC list member
(Richard Morrison) identified that as being from
December 21, 1952 according to Jerry Heandiges' Radio
Logs website. Somehow VOA acquired a copy of the show.

More history from the day classical music was abundant
on commercial radio.

Thanks to all who helped,
Thom
