In both instances, daily newspaper listings might help. For the one with the
questionable date, what's the name of the program? Some regular programs would go "off
for the summer" or might be summer replacement series, so there'd be a difference
between May and August schedules. (And the days grow short when you reach September.)

The New York Times shows a WCBS program for 26 August 1953 at 10PM "Straw Hat Concert" with Alfredo Antonini conductor.
