Nope...it was an AR-15. I still have the manual. The PHASE control
apparently
fine-tunes the 38KHz oscillator to match the received signal (near as I can
tell from reading the manual!).

At any rate, it was a fine machine...someday when I'm not quite so close
to abject poverty I'll try to find a used one...?!
