Subject: [ARSCLIST] question about rates

Hi everyone...

I've got a question that will need to be answered off-list since I
know that some of the list members are twitchy about posting their
rates.

An old colleague of mine has asked me to do some freelance work for
her by trying to clean up the sound on three old interviews. Assuming
that these are an hour each, how much would the "going rate" be for
this? That is, how much would you charge? The original format is
cassette, but someone gave her the bright idea of transferring them to
MP3 first. I'm going to have to write her back to explain about sound
quality and compression first, but at any rate (hey! a pun!), I'd like
to be able to tell her how much I'd charge. I'm just trying to get a
ballpark figure as to how much others charge for this work.
