Well, I miss the days of tubes and wires! When I first set out to learn
"electronics," the underside of a chassis had coloured wires soldered to
terminal strips or tube sockets...making circuit tracing simpler, and
avoiding problems caused by all-but-invisible cracks across printed
circuit boards.
On the other hand, imagine the size...and the labour expended...for a
hard-wired version of the Pentium IV microchip (which probably wouldn't
work anyway, given the finite transit time of a half-inch of wire...).
