Alcohol on shellac is the classic Vietnam syndrome.  You'll kill it to save 
it.

You won't get it all back, but I'd begin trying to pry it out with a dental 
tool.  The objective is not to remove it (though that would be nice) but to 
create a path so the stylus can track through the groove, noise and all. 
After that, it's between you and your computer programs.
