The Silicon Valley investment banking crowd who are lobbying to legislate as much as possible into the public domain so that they can turn around and sell "access" to each of us for 50 bucks a month really don't want people knowing this. Their press releases paint this picture that copyright and all copyright owners are the embodiment of evil. It's sad that so many people buy into this spin.
