Not in the freezer. The lubricants exude out and often will not reabsorb. Refrigerating at about 38-39 degrees works. And elevated the electric bill astoundingly!

Joe is quite right: the baking drives the moisture from the tape making
it playable.  The tape then starts to absorb moisture from the
atmosphere and so becomes 'sticky' again after a few weeks.  Like
muffins, bake your tapes in batches!
