----- all firesafes rely on insulation, and the thicker that is, the longer
it takes to heat the content to the ambient temperature. If you have a fire
that lasts 5 hours nothing will be much below red heat inside the safe,
irrespective of thickness. So the ratings are typically based on temperature
rise during an hour.

----- active cooling of the content is a possibility, but I can only imagine
solutions, I do not know of any used in practice. If you have a reservoir of
water surrounding the safe, the temperature inside will not rise above 212
deg. F as long as there is water available. But when that is gone, we are
back to insulation creating a time constant.

The best solution is to select a location that is fireproof (unless someone
deliberately tries to make a long lasting fire inside).

Kind regards,

George
