I do appraisals of such collections regularly- three this year so far with 
this kind of material.

Having declared my activities in this area, however, I'd also be cautious 
about overvalunation.  Though iconically spectacular, the don't sell for 
much unless they are accompanied by the underlying rights and clearances. 
Should this be the bulk of the "valuable" items, their fair maket value may 
not reach high enough above the $ 5,000 "you need an appraiser" level the 
IRS sets to warrant an appraisal fee.   The client may come out further 
ahead taking $ 4,999 of his taxes and not use an outside professional.
