We use a variety of setups.

I memixed part of Fleetwood Mac - Tusk for DVD-A using 9652s (48ch @96K),
Yamaha DM2000 and RME converters (many different boxes incl format
converters)

I presently use Lynx AES 16 (my favorite AES only card) and Advanced Audio
2192 (D/A and A/D)

or.. Lynx AES16 and Genex DSD/PCM GXA8 or Apogee converters.

I have found that FW and USB tends to get a bit unstable when they are on
24/7...  combined with FW/USB drives. FW drives are unstable as it is...

Here's another "yes" to RME products. I've been using 9652's,
Multifaces and the DIGI96/8 PAD. At the main studio I was working at
we had 9652's in all the Giga Studio units as well as all the Mac's
running Logic and Nuendo. All the film scores, TV shows, ballet's,
concerto's...everything went through these and sounded wonderful.
