Two-disc recordings were very seldom issued as album sets in those days. As late as 1934, the Columbia catalog points out that shorter works (4 sides) were of "insufficient length to be in albums". Victor retro-numbered
its two-disc sets with album numbers in the late 30s..Columbia probably began to do so around the same time. I'm looking at X-52, The Rio Grande, which has the "Full Range" label introduced in 1937.
