2 things,
If encountered by SSS one should not transfer the tapes onto other reel,
of any nature, since that act could be damaging to the tape by itself.
A couple of years ago I have tested several plastic reels to determine
if we could bake tape on them. I went as high as 20 degrees past baking
temp and none of the reels showed signs of damage. If I recall only one
reel came out slightly bent - nothing to worry about, it could even be
bent before the baking.
