Yes, this is like it is. Fortunately the problem is not as large in
Europe,
as most professional-quality BASF and AGFA tapes have not (yet) generally
exhibited the same problems. However, we have a program to transfer ALL
our
analog tapes within the next ten years.

DAT tapes are even worse, but fortunately modern mass storage systems seem
to be quite safe, if they are professionally supervised.

Isn't it funny that the record industry wants to have copyright protection
for nearly a century, while it has no interest in really protecting the
actual recoridngs.
