Eric,

Have you dared try recording into a DAW while holding the tone arm in place
by hand through that damaged section, then reconstructing the program and
removing the thuds?  This isn't repairing the groove but at least you get
the audio.  Make enough passes to hit every groove in the scratch zone at
least once.  It may sound awful while recording but its usually simple to
figure out how to put it together properly.--JC
