Hello,

I have experience with the Packburn devices and have used them since they 
were invented. If properly and carefully used, they do not affect the 
signal but only reduce the noise, especially ticks, pops, and the remaining 
steady noise. To use the Packburn you must play the discs in stereo with 
appropriate styli. The device operates on both 78-rpm discs and LP's and 
was designed for monaural discs, though it has some effect on stereo 
recordings.
