Re: [ARSCLIST] Advice for filtering surface noise

Hello Otto,

I suppose the first question I have is: What is the end product of your
playback of the records? In other words, are you just listening to the
78's in real time, or do want to copy them and clean them up to final
digital or magnetic analogue copies?

If it's in real time, the clean up tools are different than if you are
digitizing to a computerized program.

Hello.

Filtering 78rpm records is a really difficult job. To much filtering causes
unnatural effects.
I use the Elberg MD12 low pass filter continuously variable from 1.6 kHz to
12 kHz (up to 5-4 kHz).
But the surface noise is still a problem.
How can I filter the surface noise?
Please, can somebody give me an advice to find the right equipment.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely,
Otto Striebel
